How to make a cash memo

A cash memo is the quick bill for a walk-in customer who pays on the spot. The customer is optional, and it prints on a counter thermal printer as well as on A4.

Step by step

  1. Cash memo details. Number and date fill in.
  2. Customer (optional). Leave empty for small sales; type the name and address for a sale of ₹50,000 or more.
  3. Items. Pick saved items to fill rates; a warning says "Only N in stock" if stock runs short.
  4. GST. Show GST on this document: on for a GST-registered shop.
  5. Payment: Paid. Save, then Print / PDF on the counter printer.

Worked example

A hardware shop sells 2 paint brushes at ₹60 + 18%: ₹120 + ₹21.60 = ₹141.60, round off ₹142, paid by cash. The App's cash book shows +₹142 the same day.

Rules and dates

For a sale of ₹50,000 or more to an unregistered buyer, the bill must show the buyer's name, address and state (Rule 46). Accepting ₹2 lakh or more in cash from one person for one transaction is not allowed under income-tax law; the maker warns you.
